El sábado pasado 20 de agosto, se graduaron once alumnos en el Centro de Estudios en Toltecas, en la congregación del mismo nombre. Los coordinadores de esta sucursal del ILEB Artuto y Antonio Gonzalez, organizaron la ceremonia de graduación. Estos alumnos son parte de la onceaba generación del ILEB.

On Saturday August 20th, eleven students graduated at the Center for Studies Toltecs, the congregation of the same name. The coordinators of this branch school of Ileb, Artuto and Antonio Gonzalez, organized the graduation ceremony. These students are part of the eleventh generation of Ileb.

A esta ceremonia acudimos Raúl y Kim, y mi esposa Bety y yo, para hacer la entrega de los certificados correspondientes a cada alumno.

This ceremony was attended by Raul and Kim, and my wife Betty and I, to make delivery of certificates for each student.

Todo fue muy emotivo y muy agradable. Los cantos, las oraciones, el sermón, las palabras de Daniel, uno de los egresado, y el banquete. Gracias a Dios por los estudiantes y sus maestro.
Everything was very emotional and very enjoyable. The songs, prayers, the sermon, the words of Daniel, one of the graduates, and the banquet. Thank God for the students and their teachers.

El sábado en la predicación

Campaña Evangelística...
El día 15 de julio fuimos invitados a una Campaña Evangelística a Iguala, Guerrero. Juan Luis Díaz, el predicador de ahí, nos invitó a dar clases y predicar. Fuimos acompañados por 5 alumnos del Instituto, Emilio, Marisol, Mario, Lulú y Sandro, fueron con mi esposa y conmigo en ese viaje. El trabajo era de viernes a domingo. Cada uno teníamos una tarea que realizar. Emilio dio clases a los varones, Mario a la Iglesia, Sandro se encargó de la clase dominical y yo tuve a cargo las predicaciones evangelísticas del viernes, sábado y domingo. Por su lado las mujeres se repartieron la tarea de dar clases a las hermanas. Fueron días de mucha edificación y mucho trabajo... Asistieron hermanos de Arcelia, Chilpancingo, Acapulco, Chiapas, Iguala y Toluca.

Gospel Meeting in Iguala...
On July 15 we were invited to a Gospel Meeting in Iguala, Guerrero. Juan Luis Diaz, the preacher there invited us to teach and preach. We were accompanied by 5 students of the Bible Institute, Emilio, Marisol, Mario, Lulu and Sandro, as well as with my wife and me. The work was from Friday to Sunday, and each one of us had a job to do. Emilio gave class to the men, Mario to the Church, Sandro took over the Sunday class and I was in charge of the Gospel meeting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On the other hand women were handed the task of teaching the sisters. We had days of hard work. Brothers attended from the following churches: Arcelia, Chilpancingo, Acapulco, Chiapas, Iguala, and Toluca.

Campaña de Servicio (¿¿??) en Oaxaca...

En esos días, los jóvenes de la Iglesia, fueron a una Campaña de Servicio a Oaxaca, del 17 al 24 de julio. 26 personas, entre jóvenes y adultos fueron en este viaje que se convirtió en una campaña evangelística. Ocho jóvenes decidieron entregar su vida al Señor.

Los hermanos de Toluca y los de Oaxaca, realizaron diferentes actividades juntos. Desde limpiar el edificio de la iglesia, un retiro y regalar ropa. Los jóvenes de Toluca presentaron una obra de teatro. Se estrecharon lazos de amistad entre unos y otros. Al siguiente domingo, 31 de julio, hubo dos bautizos en Oaxaca y ese mismo día uno aquí en Toluca. Un total de 11 almas rescatadas fue el fruto de ese viaje.

Mission Trip in Oaxaca?

Meanwhile, the youth group of the Church went to a mission trip to Oaxaca, which took place from the 17th to 25th of July. 26 people, including youth and adults attended this Mission Trip that became an evangelistic campaign in the end. Eight teens decided to give their life to the Lord.

The brothers of Toluca and Oaxaca, perform different activities together. From cleaning the church building, a retreat and give away clothes. The young people of Toluca performed a skit. They built friendships between the two youth groups. The next Sunday, July 31, there were two baptisms in Oaxaca and the same day one here in Toluca. A total of 11 souls rescued were the fruit of that journey.

Del 1 al 5 de agosto tuvimos la EBV. El tema fue: Reyes y Reinas. Más de 75 niños asistieron a la escuelita. Cada mañana los niños estaban temprano deseosos de participar en esta emocionante aventura. La experiencia para todos los participantes fue formidable... Gracias a Dios los niños estuvieron felices y aprendieron quien es el verdadero “Rey de Reyes”

From the 1^th to 5^th of August, we had our usual VBS. The theme was Kings and Queens. Over 75 children attended the VBS. Each morning the children were eager to participate early in this exciting adventure. The experience for all participants was amazing... Thanks to God the children were happy and learned who the real "King of Kings" is.

El 2 de agosto nuestros hermanos Alberto y Heidi Lara cumplieron 25 años de casados. Ellos querían hacer una ceremonia de acción de gracias y renovar sus votos de matrimonio. El único problema era que el auditorio iba a tener adornos de la escuelita de verano... Alberto y Heidi dijeron que estaba bien esos adornos. El domingo 31 de julio hicieron una invitación a toda la congregación para que los acompañara en esta celebración. El martes a las 7:00 pm tuvimos la ceremonia de Renovación de Votos. Todo fue muy emotivo. Asistieron aproximadamente 150 personas, entre hermanos, amigos y familiares. Alberto y Heidi estaban muy felices y enamorados. Ellos son un buen ejemplo de un buen matrimonio. Eso es lo que necesita la iglesia, matrimonios que sean buenos ejemplos para que la iglesia crezca.

En esa semana, tuvimos otra sorpresa más. Un joven llamado Germán, decidió ser bautizado. Él ya tenía como 3 meses acompañándonos al servicio dominical. El jueves 4 de agosto fue bautizado para el perdón de sus pecados. Germán está inscrito en el ILEB para las clases que inician el 23 de agosto.

And other things...
On August 2, our brothers Alberto and Heidi Lara, celebrated their 25th anniversary. They wanted to have a thanksgiving ceremony and renew their wedding vows. The only problem was that the audience would have VBS decorations ... Albert and Heidi said it was okay to have these decorations. On Sunday, July 31 they made an invitation to the entire congregation to join them in this celebration. Tuesday at 7:00 pm we had a renewal of vows ceremony. It was all very moving. Approximately 150 people attended, including siblings, friends and family. Alberto and Heidi were very happy and in love. They are a good example of a great marriage. That's what the church needs, marriages that are good examples for the church to grow.

That week we had another surprise. A young man named German, decided to be baptized. He had already about 3 months visiting us on Sundays. On Thursday August 4 was baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. Germain is enrolled in ILEB for classes that begin on August 23^rd.

Gracias a Dios, él nos sigue llenado de bendiciones. El 5 de junio pasado, se bautizó Guadalupe, ella ya tenían algunos domingos de estarnos visitando, estudió con el hermano Merced y a mí me tocó platicar un poco con ella también.

Thanks to God, He keeps on filling us up with blessings. We have been witnesses of how God rescues lost souls…On June the 5th, Guadalupe got baptized, and she had been visiting for a few Sundays, she was studding with our brother Merced and I was privileged to study with her as well.

El domingo 10 de julio, se bautizó Armando Fernández. Su hermano Mario y su abuelita Lulú, son miembros de la iglesia y actualmente estudiantes del ILEB. Mario fue uno de los que terminó su primer año de estudios y recibieron su diploma.

On July the 10th, Armando Fernandez got baptized, his brother Mario and grandmother Lulu, are members of the church and ILEB students. Mario was one of the ones that received a diploma for finishing his 1st year of studies.

El domingo 17 de julio fue bautizado Ezequiel Ocaña, Ezequiel y su familia tienen ya varios años de asistir a los servicios. El año pasado su esposa Margarita empezó a estudiar en el ILEB, y en noviembre de 2010 ella fue bautizada… Ezequiel nos había contado que el provenía de una familia presbiteriana, que su abuela fue la fundadora de una iglesia por allá donde ellos vivían. Pero gracias a Dios este domingo 17 de julio fue bautizado de acuerdo a lo que enseña la Biblia.
On July 17th Ezequiel Ocaña got baptized. Ezequiel and his family have been attending church services for several years. Last year his wife Margarita started studding ILEB. Through her studies she realized she needed to be baptized and on November 2010 she was baptized…Ezequiel had told us that he came from a presbyterian family, and that his grandmother was the founder of the church where they came from. Thankfully on Sunday the 17^th he gave his life to the Lord and got Baptized.

Los Asistentes al Seminario

El 10 de junio visitamos la congregación de San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato. Ahí hay un grupo de hermanos estudiando el ILEB y fui invitado a dar el seminario “Creciendo Hacia la Madurez Espiritual”. La asistencia aproximada a este seminario, fue de 25 personas. Fuimos toda la familia acompañados por dos familias más de la Iglesia, Jorge y Reyna Pacheco y Juan Carlos y Juanita Gutiérrez. En esta visita nos enteramos que Aurelio, uno de los egresados de ILEB, quien actualmente trabajaba junto con el predicador de San Miguel, Fernando Arroyo, (otro egresado de ILEB); Van a empezar una nueva obra él y su esposa Nelly, en Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato. Nelly sigue estudiando en el instituto.

We visited the congregation in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, on June 10th. We have a group of students of ILEB there and I was invited to teach the “Growing Towards Spiritual Maturity”. The attendance was of approximately 25^th people. Almost all of us as a family went (Bety, Alin, Jaret, Joselyn and I) along with 2 other families from the church, Jorge and Reyna Pacheco and Juan Carlos and Juanita Gutierrez. While we were in San Miguel, we found out that our brother Aurelio, one of the ILEB graduates from our 7^th generation, who currently works with the preacher of San Miguel de Allende, Fernando Arroyo (another ILEB graduate from our 1^st generation). Aurelio is going to start a new congregation in Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato. Aurelio’s wife Nelly is still studding in the ILEB institute.

El 2 de julio tuvimos la ceremonia de graduación del ILEB. Esta es la XI generación que egresa del ILEB. Las graduadas fueron: Genoveva González, Patricia Villanueva y Beatriz Miranda.

On July the 2^nd we had the graduation ceremony. This was the 11^th generation of graduates of ILEB. The graduates this year were: Grnoveva Gonzalez, Patricia Villanueva y Beatriz Miranda.

A la ceremonia nos acompañaron hermanos muy queridos para nosotros. Robin Rutherford, de Odessa, Tx y la familia Galindo; Barry, Denisse, y sus hijos Deborha, Caleb y Mateo, solo faltó uno de sus hijos, Josh, quien por cuestiones de estudios no pudo asistir con su familia. Barry y Denisse, son unos de los misioneros quienes estuvieron trabajando por más de 10 años en la Iglesia en Toluca. Ahora están trabajando en Oregon, EE. UU. En la ceremonia Robin se encargó de dar unas palabras de ánimo a las graduadas, y Barry tuvo el encargo del sermón bacalario.

Some of your dear brothers came to visit us for the graduations. Robin Rutherford, Barry and Denise Galindo, along with their sons Caleb and Mathew and their daughter Deborah, the only one missing was Josh. Robin gave the encouragement words to the graduates and Barry gave the sermon bacalario.

Al otro día de la graduación, el domingo tuvimos convivio con la iglesia y nos la pasamos excelentemente bien.
The next day of the graduation we had a fellowship in the church and we were encouraged.

Noticias de la Familia...

The Family News…

El 18 de junio, nuestra hija Alin volvió a irse a trabajar de regreso al crucero. En esta ocasión va a estar 8 meses fuera de casa, y eso nos puso un poco tristes, pero sabemos que es Dios quien está en control de todas las cosas.

Our daughter Alin left to work on another cruse, she had said that she didn’t want to work in another one, but she feels the need to face her giants and conquer with God’s help. This time she will be away for 8 months, which is longer than she’s ever left, and that made is sad but we know that God is in control.

Para mitigar un poco nuestra tristeza tuvimos unos días de mucha alegría. El 30 de junio recibimos en nuestra casa a la familia Galindo. Ellos son nuestros queridos amigos y tuvimos el placer de tenerlos en casa disfrutando de su compañía. Mi familia y yo estuvimos muy contentos. Dios nos dio la oportunidad de establecer una muy bonita amistad con ellos desde que estuvieron aquí en Toluca. Familia Galindo, les amamos en el amor del Señor. Aunque fueron pocos días los disfrutamos muchísimo, que Dios los siga bendiciendo y nos permita seguir siendo amigos por siempre…

After Alin left we received our dear friends the Galindo family. There were here just for 4 days but we had a great experience. Galindo Family we love you so much and we enjoyed your company, may God continue blessing you and may He allowed us to be friends forever.

Por favor oren por Alin, que pueda glorificar a Dios en cada aspecto de su vida allá donde ella está. Y por nuestro hijo Jart, porque parece que Dios está abriendo las puertas para que vaya en ese viaje de intercambio a Francia, que sea su voluntad solamente en la vida de él.
Please pray for Alin, so that she can glorify God in every aspect of her life where ever she is. For our son Jaret it seems like God is opening door so he can go on his trip to France, so please pray that God does His will on him.

Damos gracias a Dios por la respuesta dada a Adam y Joselyn, nuestra hija mayor. Dios les ha dado muestras contundentes de su protección y amor. Y si ellos deben ir a vivir a EE UU, que sea de acuerdo a su voluntad.
We give glory to God for the answer prayer for Adam and Joselyn, our oldest daughter. God is showing His love and protection for them, so they can move to USA. May God does His will.

Mayo ha sido un mes tranquilo, pero un mes de preparación.
May has been a quiet month, but a month of preparation.
Estamos a punto de cerra el ciclo escolar 2010-2011 del ILEB. Nos estamos preparando para la graduacioón. Está será la onceaba generación que egresa del ILEB.
We are about to close the 2010-2011 school year the ILEB. We are preparing for the graduacioón. This will be the eleventh generation of ILEB graduates.
El 30 de abril festejamos a los niños. Ellos estuvieron muy contentos. Fueron cerca de 80 niños los
que asistieron. Comieron, jugaron, se divirtieron todos juntos.

April 30 to celebrate children. They were very happy. Were about 80 children who attended. They ate, played, had fun together.

El primer domingo de abril iniciamos clases de equipamiento para los ancianos. Son 14 varones los que asisten a esta clase. Oramos porque muy pronto podamos establecer ancianos en nuestra congregación.
The first Sunday in April began equipment classes for the elderly. There are 14 men who attend this class. We pray that very soon we can establish elders in our congregation.

El viaje de la Familia Cristiana

The Christian Family’s Adventure

En marzo, nos visitaron varios hermanos de Bentonville, Ar. Vinieron para impartir unas conferencias tituladas: “El Viaje de la Familia Cristiana”. Del 19 al 22 de marzo, tuvimos cada noche una conferencia. Las conferencias eran precedidas por un pequeño sketch, donde se ilustraba a una familia cristiana emprendiendo un viaje en lancha con todas las dificultades que esto implica. Dell Wood, anciano de Bentonville Chuch of Chirist, y Lorry, su esposa, compartieron sus experiencias y conocimiento en esta serie de conferencias.

In March we had a visit from several brothers from Bentonville, Ar. Who came to teach a conference title: “The Christian Family’s Adventure”. This conference took place from March 19^th to the 22^nd every evening here at hour congregation. This conferences started with a little skit every night where the characters where a Christian family going on a adventure, a boat trip, and all of the difficulties this percents. Dell Wood, and elder from Bentonville Church of Christ, and Lorry, his wife, shares their experiences and knowledge in this conferences.

Junto con Dell y Lorry Wood vinieron sus dos hijos, además Donovan, ministro de jóvenes de aquella congregación y, como guía de turistas, nuestro queridísimo hermano y amigo John Dyas, uno de los ex-misioneros que estuvieron por más de 10 años viviendo aquí en Toluca.

Along with Dell and Lorry Wood 2 of their children came along besides Donovan, one of the Youth Ministers from their congregations and as a tour guide John Dyas came along as well, he is one of the former missionaries from this congregation. John Dyas spent 10 years here in Toluca along with his family.

Por supuesto su visita fue de gran bendición, sobre todo la presencia de John Dyas, porque muchos de los hermanos lo conocen muy bien. Él fue uno de los que nos enseñó y nos evangelizó, entre otros a mí esposa y a mí. John fue quien nos bautizó un 30 de mayo del año 1992, en una cascada llamada “Velo de Novia”, en Avándaro, Valle de Bravo. En esa ocasión 6 personas fuimos rescatadas de las garras de Satanás y llevadas a los pies de Cristo.

This visit was a great blessing for us, specially having John Dyas with us ‘cause seeing him is always a great pleasure for all of us that know him. John was one of the ones that taught me and evangelized me and my wife. John got us baptized on May 30^th, 1992 on a waterfall called “The Brides Vail”, in a town called Avandaro, Valle de Bravo. When we got baptized another 4 people were taken away from the devils power and taken to our Lords feet.

Aquí en la Iglesia en Toluca, tenemos un gran cariño por John y su familia, y esta oportunidad de volverlo a ver fue muy grata para todos. Tuvimos la gran bendición de tenerlo hospedado en nuestra casa durante esa semana, pudimos hablar con él, recordar días hermosos y traer a la memoria recuerdos tan importantes que nos dieron aliciente para seguir adelante. La visita de John, junto con los demás, fue de gran valía para mí y para mi familia. Agradezco a Dios cada oportunidad que tengo de ver a mis queridos hermanos que me enseñaron el evangelio y me capacitaron para servir al Señor. Que Dios los bendiga a cada uno de ellos: John y Clare Dyas; Barry y Denisse Galindo; Jody y Raean Jones y Dan y Elise Coker. Cada uno de ustedes marcaron mi vida en una manera muy importante.
Here in Toluca, we love John and his family, and this opportunity to see him again was a great pleasure. My family and I had the blessing of having him in our home during the week they were here in Toluca. We were able to visit with him and remember the old days, we remembered important events in our lives that gave us encouragement to keep on going. Johns visit was a blessing a very valuable for me and my family. I always thank God for the opportunities I have to see my brothers that taught me the gospel and that equipped me to serve the Lord. May God bless each and every one of you: John and Claire Dyas, Barry and Denisse Galindo, Jody and Rean Jones and Dan and Elise Coker. Each and every one of you touched my life in a very important way.

Estamos casi a punto de terminar este ciclo escolar 2010-2011. En esta ocasión hay tres hermanas que son las que se van a graduar en la XII Generación. Seguimos teniendo en Toluca 22 estudiantes, 6 de ellos de tiempo completo. La ceremonia de graduación, con el favor de Dios, la vamos a tener el 2 de julio. No tenemos noticias hasta este momento que en los diferentes Centros de Estudio que dependen de ILEB, vayamos a tener más alumnos que se gradúan, siguen estudiando, pero por el momento no han concluido sus estudios. Para el próximo ciclo escolar vamos a tener tres grupos estudiando en el ILEB, los alumnos que están en el primero y que pasan a segundo, los que van a estudiar el nivel avanzado y los de nuevo ingreso que se inscriban en este nuevo ciclo escolar 2011-2012.
We are about to finish this school year 2010-2011. This year there are 3 sisters who are going to graduate in our 12th Generation. We have 22 students here in Toluca, 6 of them are full time students. The graduation ceremony, Lord willing, will be July the 2nd. We don’t know of any other students graduating from our branches. For the next school year we are going to have students on the 3 levels (1st level or basic, 2nd level or intermediate, and 3rd level or advance) of ILEB.

Chronicle in Spanish News…

Es de mucha alegría para mi comentar que seguimos recibiendo cartas de hermanos interesados en recibir la crónica CRISTIANA en español y quienes nos mandan noticias para publicar. Nos han llegado cartas de Cuba, varias por cierto, de Chile, del Salvador, recientemente de Nicaragua, de EE. UU., de Lima, Perú; de España y de México. Veo con agrado que la crónica sigue sirviendo de medio de comunicación entre los hermanos hispanoparlantes y eso me alienta mucho a seguir con esta labor.

Its of so much joy to tell you we keep on receiving letter from our brothers who are interested in getting the Chronicle in Spanish mailed to them and of brothers who sent news to publish. We have received letters from: Cuba, Chile, el Salvador, recently from Nicaragua and USA, Lima Peru, from Spain, and all over Mexico. I am so glad to see that the Chronicle keeps on serving as a way for communication between the Spanish speaking brothering, and knowing that motivates me to keep on working.

Por Fin Unos Días de Vacaciones

Finally a Few days of Vacation

Después de mucho tiempo de posponerlas, por fin pudimos tomar unos días de vacaciones. Nos fuimos el lunes 18 de abril y regresamos el jueves 21 por la noche… Pareciera que fueron pocos días pero fueron maravillosos para descansar. “Pudimos estar unos días en la tranquilidad de la playa…” Mi hija Joselyn conoció, en su reciente viaje a Honduras, a una hermana llamada Alicia, quien le comentó que tenía una casa para que las personas que trabajan en la Iglesia, puedan tomar unas vacaciones y unos días de descanso. Joselyn nos comentó esa posibilidad y sin planearlo le dije: “Dile que sí, que cuándo nos puede prestar su casa”. Mi hija se comunicó y arreglaron los detalles para poder pasar 4 días fabulosos en la playa… No conocíamos nada sobre la casa, todo fue una gran sorpresa… Una casa metida aparentemente en medio de la nada, al llegar solo veíamos árboles y vegetación, pero al bajar un poco en el camino de terracería que te lleva a la casa, descubrimos el mar esplendoroso de Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán… La casa está en un fraccionamiento donde no hay nada, solo mar, sol, albercas y la naturaleza… En la noche duermes con las ventanas abiertas y el ruido del mar te arrulla, a veces te espanta por lo fuerte del oleaje… En fin, fue de gran bendición para nosotros poder ir a estas vacaciones, las fotos les pueden decir si estábamos aburridos o muy contentos… Damos gracias a Dios por hermanas como Alicia, tan generosas y por permitirnos tener estos días de relax…

After a long time of postponing, we finally were able to take a few days for vacation. We left on Monday April the 18^th and came back Thursday the 21^st. I know it seems like we hardly were gone but those days were amazing to rest. We were able to rest in the calmness of the beach. My daughter Joselyn meet on her trip to Honduras a lady named Alicia who is part of the church. This lady has built a house for “the workers of God to have a time or rest and relaxation”, as she says it. Joselyn told us about this possibility and without planning I told her “For sure, when can she lend us the house?” then she got in touch with Alicia and we finally made all of the arrangements to have 4 wonderful days in the beach. We didn’t know hardly anything about the place we were going, so we had tons of wonderful surprises. It was a house in what it seemed the middle of nowhere. When we 1^st got there we just saw trees and vegetation, but going deeper into the land we discovered the wonderful sea of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan. The house we stayed at is in a little gated area where there’s a few other houses, the seam a few swimming pools and the beautiful creation of God. During the night you can sleep with the sound of the sea, sometimes it’s so strong that it can startle you. It was such a wonderful blessing to be able to go on this vacations, in the pictures you can see how “bored”, not really, we where. We thank our God for brothers and sisters like Alicia and Bernard, who are so kind and generous to let us have this few days of relaxation.

Cada viernes tenemos grupos pequeños reuniéndose en casas. En San Mateo Atenco, en la casa de Merced y Lolita, hay un grupo que está creciendo en forma sorprendente. Asisten unas 25 personas cada semana.

Every Friday we have small groups meeting in homes. In San Mateo Atenco, At the house of Merced and Lolita, a group that is growing dramatically. About 25 people attend each week.

Como resultado del trabajo realizado en ese lugar, Dios ha tocado el corazón de más personas para que sigan a Cristo. El 13 de marzo se bautizó Catalina, ella empezó a estudiar con Lolita y ahora también asiste los jueves al círculo de lectura que atiende Betty, mi esposa. El 20 de marzo Rosa María se bautizó, ella es mamá del nieto de Merced.

As a result of work done in that place, God has touched the hearts of more people to follow Christ. On March 13th, Catalina got baptized, she began studying with Lolita and now attends the Thursday`s reading circle that meets with Betty, my wife. On March 20th, Rosa Maria was baptized, she is the mother of Merced`s grandson.

Este domingo 20 de marzo, Dios también trabajó en los corazones de otras dos personas, Aarón Merino fue bautizado. Ese mismo día una jovencita de 17 años llamada Mary, también fue bautizada.

Además, el domingo 13 de marzo, regresó a la Iglesia Veronica Valdés, hija de nuestra hermana Adela Blanco, quien falleció. Y el domingo 20 de marzo, asistió a los servicios con su esposo, Roberto. Ellos dos son bautizados pero se habían alejado de la Iglesia.

Also, on Sunday March 13th, Veronica Valdes returned to the Church, the daughter of our sister Adela Blanco, who past away. On Sunday March 20th, her husband Roberto attended services with her. These two are baptized but they left the Church.

La semana pasada olvidé comentar que falleció la hermana Adela, ella fue una cristiana muy entregada al Señor. Adela siempre estaba preocupada porque sus hijos, Carlos Hugo y Verónica, regresaran al camino de Dios, ambos son bautizaron, pero estaban alejados por diferentes razones. Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de platicar con Verónica, y me comentó que le impactó mucho la muerte de su mamá y la respuesta de la Iglesia, el funeral se realizó en el edificio de la Iglesia, y ahora está deseosa de regresar a la Iglesia.

I forgot to comment last week that Sister Adela Blanco past away, she was a very faithful Christian. Adela was always concerned for her children, Carlos Hugo and Veronica so that they would return to God's way. Both of them are baptized, but they don´t come to church any more for different reasons. A few days ago I had the opportunity to talk with Veronica and she told me she was very shocked by her mother's death and the Church´s response. The funeral was held at the church building, and Veronica is now eager to return to the Church.

El domingo pasado, 6 de marzo, conocimos al papá de nuestra Kimbely Solís, ella llegó a esta congregación en 1992, cuando yo me bauticé, y conoció al que ahora es su esposo, Raúl Solís y formaron una bella familia. Kim y Raúl tienen tres hijos, dos varones y una preciosa niña. El papá de Kim vino a Toluca el día de la boda y desde entonces no había regresado a esta ciudad. Él llegó el viernes y acompañó a su hija al servicio el domingo, la bella sorpresa fue que además de visitar a su hija y a su familia, vino para ser bautizado, Ayer después del servicio nos comentó que él ha viajado por muchas partes del mundo, que tuvo la oportunidad de ir a Medio Oriente y visitar la que se supone fue la tumba de Jesús, y ese día él decidió ser bautizado, solo que lo quería hacer en un lugar especial, con gente especial y donde estuviera su familia...El domingo 6 Raúl, su yerno.se encargó de bautizarlo.

On Sunday, March 6th, we met the father of our sister Kimbely Solis. She came to this congregation in 1992, when I was baptized. Kim met her now husband, Raul Solis and formed a beautiful family. Kim and Raul have three children, two boys and a girl. Kim's dad came to Toluca for the wedding and since then he had not returned to this city. He arrived on Friday and accompanied her daughter to the church service on Sunday. He had a beautiful surprise for his daughter in addition to visiting he came to be baptized after churh yesterday. He told us he had traveled extensively around the world end he had the opportunity to go and visit the Middle East last year. He visited the place that it is supposed to be Jesus tomb, and that day he decided to get baptized, buth he wanted to do it in a special place with special people and where his family was ... On Sunday the 6th Raul, whom preach, baptized his father inlaw.

El domingo 20 de febrero, Merced Tejeda fue el encargado de predicar, ese día nos habló de ánimo.
On Sunday February 20, Merced Tejeda was commissioned to preach, that day we spoke of take courage.

Nos comentó de un joven ex-drogadicto, Oscar, el cual lleva ocho meses de no drogarse, 15 días de haber dejado el cigarro y un poco más de un mes de estar asistiendo a la Iglesia. Este joven cada viernes asiste al estudio que hay en casa de Merced y se nota su habre y sed del evangelio.

He told us of a young ex-drug addict, Oscar, who is eight months of not using drugs, 15 days not smoking and a little more than a month of going to church. This young man attends every Friday to study there in Merced´s house and it shows his hunger and thirst for the gospel.

Con agrado les comento que este domingo 27 de febrero, Oscar decidió estregar su vida al Señor y ser bautizado para el perdon de sus pecados.

Pleased to let you know that this Sunday, February 27, Oscar decided to deliver your life to the Lord and be baptized for the forgiveness of their sins.

El tema de este año para la Iglesia aquí en Toluca está basado en estos dos versículos de Juan capítulo 17… “La Unidad en La Iglesia… Para que el mundo CREA…”

The theme of the year for the church here in Toluca is based in John 17… “The Unity of the Church…So that the World may BELIEVE..”

Con el tema del año pasado hemos avanzado muchísimo, todos aprendimos sobre las marcas del verdadero discípulo de Cristo, y ahora estamos trabajando en la unidad. En el primer trimestre del año estamos hablando sobre los privilegios que tenemos como cristianos, el segundo semestre vamos a hablar de nuestra “Unidad con Dios”, el tercer trimestre de la “Unidad con la Familia (hermanos)” y el último trimestre de la “Unidad con el Mundo”

With last years theme we have grown a lot as a congregation. Last year we all learned about the marks of a true disciple of Christ, now we are working on the Unity of the church. On the 1^st trimester of the year we have been talking about the privileges of being a Christian. The 2^nd trimester we will be talking about “Unity with God” and the 3^rd trimester of the year we will talk about “Unity in the Church Family” and on the last trimester we will be talking about “Unity with the World”.

Por el momento solo dos personas se han bautizado, pero estamos estudiando con muchas más a la vez y esperamos que pronto decidan seguir al Señor.

We have only had 2 baptisms this year, but we are having a lot more bible studies and we are hoping they decide to follow our Lord soon.

Continuamos con el propósito de establecer ancianos en esta congregación y esto ha sido un poco tardado. Tuvimos la visita de un querido hermano, proveniente de Oregon, EE UU, Ron Clark, quien tiene maestría en el desarrollo de ancianos, y nos dio la tarea de entrar en la etapa de preparación de los futuros ancianos… Nos comentó que hay escuelas para preparar predicadores, para preparar evangelistas, pero no hay escuelas para preparar ancianos, y es la tarea de los evangelistas de la congregación preparar a estos hombres que en el futuro puedan ser los posibles ancianos. Pedimos que nos ayuden con sus oraciones `para este propósito.

We continue with the purpose of establishing elders for our congregation but this goal has been taking a while. We had out dear brother Ron Clark, the preacher at a church plant called Agape Church of Christ in Portland, Oregon. Ron Clark has a masters on developing elders… He commented to us that, there are schools to train preachers, to train evangelists but there are no schools that train elders. It’s the work of the evangelist of the congregation to train men that can be developed into elders for the congregation. We ask that you pray for this purpose.

Los Asistentes una de la noches

Ya estamos a un poco más de la mitad del ciclo escolar 2010-2011, y la asistencia es de 22 estudiantes en Toluca. El año pasado 2010 se abrieron dos nuevos Centros de Estudios, en Oaxaca, Oax., y Ensenada, B.C., tenemos un total

de 15 Centros de Estudios, 13 en México y dos en el extranjero, Canadá y Ciudad David, Panamá.

We are a little over half way with our school year 2010-2011, and we have 22 students here in Toluca. Last year we opened new Study Center in Oaxaca, Oaxaca, and Ensenada Baja California. Therefore, now we have a total of 15 Study Centers, from wich 13 are in Mexico and one un Canada and one in David, Panama.

Representando El Viaje de la Familia Cristiana

Precisamente los hermanos de Panamá, nos invitaron a una campaña Evangelística el pasado mes de enero. Del 25 de enero al 1 de febrero estuvimos en Panamá Raúl Solís, su hijo Diego, mi hijo Jaret y yo. Fuimos para apoyar la campaña, y para reactivar al grupo de estudiantes del ILEB que se habían quedado un poco rezagados… Todos los días a partir del miércoles 26 en las noches teníamos una plática Evangelística, a cargo de Raúl Solís, y en el día, a las 14:00 yo daba una clase sobre las Relaciones Humanas. Durante la campaña hubo 8 bautizos. Fue una oportunidad magnífica para nosotros, especialmente para mi hijo y para mí de pasar un tiempo juntos, y juntos trabajar para el Señor. A Jaret le gusta mucho evangelizar, él ha tomado algunas clases del ILEB, una de ellas fue precisamente Evangelismo, y ahora tuvo la oportunidad de compartir lo aprendido con otras personas. Uno de los días de la campaña, después de los anuncios que hizo el hermano Fernando Ponce, predicador de la Iglesia en David, una hermana voltea a ver a Jaret y le dice, tocándole el hombro; “Ándale, mi hija quiere ser bautizada, platica con ella para ver si tiene dudas.” Jaret ni tardo ni perezoso habló con ella y después de un rato breve, fue a ver a Fernando para decirle que esta chica quería ser bautizada.

The brothers in Panama invited us to help a Gospel meeting on January. Me, and my son Jaret as well as Raul Solis and his son Diego were in Panama from January 25th to February the 1st. We were there to help the gospel meeting as well as to restart the group of students for ILEB. Every day starting Wednesday 26th at night we had the gospel meeting led by Raul Solis, during the day at 2pm I was teaching a class called “Human Relations”. During the campaign we had 8 baptisms. It was a great opportunity for us, specially for my son and I to spend time together and work for the Lord. Jaret loves evangelizing people, he has taken some classes in ILEB, and one of them was Evangelism. Through this trip Jaret had the opportunity to share his faith with others. One of the days of the campaign, after the announcements that the brother Fernando Ponce, the preacher of the congregation, made one of the sisters turned to Jaret and he told him “Here, my daughter wants to be baptized, talked to her to see if she had doubts”. Jaret went right ahead and talked to her and after a little while he went to tell the brother Fernando Ponce that she wanted to be baptized.

Ella explicó que ya habían estudiado antes sobre el evangelio y que lo único que le faltaba era tomar la decisión, junto con ella se bautizaron dos sobrinos.This girl explained that she had already studied about the gospel and the only thing that she was lacking was to make the decision, along with her 2 of her nephews got baptized.

El viaje fue agotador, pero muy reconfortante, por un lado la campaña, pero por otro lado el restablecimiento del Centro de Estudios con nuevos bríos. Hablamos con los estudiantes y ellos se van a sumar al nuevo programa que tenemos en ILEB, con la idea que a más tardar en dos años tengamos a los primeros graduados de ILEB en Ciudad David, Panamá. Por favor también oren por este propósito.

The trip was very tiring, but very comforting, on one side the campaign and on the other the reestablishment of the Study Center. We talked to the students and they are now working with the new program that ILEB has, with the idea that in 2 years we can have the 1^st graduates of ILEB in David, Panama. Please pray for this students as well.

Noticias de la crónica...

El año pasado me retrasé bastante con la edición de la crónica y eso me estresó, porque seguimos recibiendo cartas de hermanos que nos animan a no dejar de publicar nuestra revista. Agradezco a Dios esta gran oportunidad de colaborar en la Iglesia llevando un poco de las noticias alentadoras que hay en por todo el mundo de cristiano de habla hispana. Sabemos que para muchos de nuestros lectores esta noticias los llenan de aliento a saber como Dios está obrando en diferentes partes del planeta.

Last year I got really behind with the edition of the Christian Chronicle and that made me very stressed, but we kept on getting letters from brothers that encourage us to continue with the making of the Chronicle. I want to thank God for the opportunity of collaborating with the church by bringing news to the Spanish speaking world. We know that for a lot of our readers this news fill them with hope just by being able to see how God is working in different parts of the world.

Acabo de recibir una carta para publicar la noticia de la Granja Hogar Casa de la Esperanza, ellos están padeciendo porque el terreno donde está situado su orfanato, lo tiene en calidad de préstamo mediante un contrato de comodato, mismo que vence en 4 años… y al parecer los dueños actuales no tienen interés en seguir con este comodato, la persona con quien originalmente se hizo este convenio, parece que falleció y pues esto representa todo un problema grandísimo… Lo relevante para nosotros es que ellos nos escribieron una carta para pedir que publicáramos su nota en la crónica CRISTIANA en español, y eso es muy halagador, que nos conozcan y tomen en cuenta para dar a conocer y pedir el apoyo de las oraciones de la iglesia por todo el mundo… Espero que podamos seguir sirviendo de esta y muchas otras maneras para que la Iglesia se una como en estos casos.

We just received a letter about a Children’s Home called the Farm of Hope. They are suffering because the land where they have the children’s home is rented, their contract is going to expire in 4 years, and it seems like the new owners of the land have no interest of keeping business with them. They wrote to us so we can publish their story in the Christian Chronicle in Spanish. Is very flattering to know that they are coming to us to ask for our help and prayers to that others around the world know what’s happening to them. We hope that we can keep on helping in this way and other ways to our brethering.

Gracias a Dios este año ha sido de muchas bendiciones, hemos sido testigos del nacimiento de 22 almas para el Reino del Señor… 22 personas se han bautizado en lo que va del año.

Además de los bautizos, han ocurrido muchas otras cosas que nos animan bastante, en el mes de julio, tuvimos una clase especial para toda la Iglesia, estuvimos hablando del establecimiento de ancianos… a mi me tocó dar esas clases y titulé la clase: “La Historia de tras del Mito del Establecimiento de Ancianos”, uno de los problemas que se filtra en las iglesias es que se nos olvida que tenemos un patrón bien establecido en la Biblia para hacer todas las cosas y empezamos a anteponer nuestro pensamiento en lugar de ver que dice la Biblia, y esto mismo es lo que sucede cuando se habla del liderazgo Bíblico, por eso nos dimos a la tarea de estudiar este tema para tratar de quitar los mitos al respecto. Seguimos en la tarea de estudiar más sobre el tema y ver la posibilidad del próximo año poder establecer ancianos… Nos comprometimos como congregación a orar todos los días a las 9:00 p.m. por este propósito.

Besides the baptisms there has been a lot more going on. On the month of July we had a special class for the whole congregation talking about the establishment of elders. I was the one teaching the classes which a title: “The history behind the myth of the establishment of elders”. One of the problems we have here in the church constantly is that we forget we have Biblical basis to do everything in the church, and instead of looking at the Bible we start thinking how we think it should be done. This has happened talking about the leadership for the church, therefore we seceded to talk about this topic and get rid of all the myths that we might have about how to establish the leadership of the congregation. We are still studying the topic and see the possibility of appointing elders next year. We committed as a congregation to pray every day at 9pm for this purpose.

Retiro de Jóvenes / Youth Retreat

Entre muchas otras cosas, los jóvenes organizaron un día de Padres, una reunión para festejar a los padres, sirvieron una cena deliciosa, fue un evento muy significativo, nos divertimos muchísimo. Llevaron tortas a un Hospital para dar de comer a los familiares de los enfermos. También Fueron a un Orfanato para ayudar un poco. El 3 de septiembre los jóvenes fueron a un retiro de tres días, viernes, sábado y domingo, regresaron todos muy motivados y animados a seguir su vida con Cristo.

The youth group had different events these past months; they organized a parent’s day, a gathering to celebrate the parents due to mother’s day and father’s day. The served a delicious dinner, it was such a meaningful event and we had tons of fun. They also went to a public hospital to give away sandwiches for the families that are waiting to hear news about their relatives that are sick. They went to an orphanage to help them out a little. The youth group went on a 3 day retreat on September the 3^th, they ere very motivated to continue their life in Christ

Quiero aprovechar la ocasión para contarles la historia de una familia muy especial, ellos son la familia Velásquez, Héctor, Miriam, Héctor Jr., Iván y Montserrat, Héctor es Médico Veterinario, ella es Doctora, los conocimos en un curso de matrimonios que tuvimos aquí en la congregación hace algunos años. Ella empezó a visitarnos en el mes de enero de este año, nos platicó de algunas circunstancias que le estaba ocurriendo y la animamos a asistir a los servicios. Al principio solo venía ella y su hija la más pequeña, Monse. Después empezaron a venir sus hijos, ahora toda la familia asiste a los servicios. Estudiamos con Miriam y Héctor, su esposo una vez a la semana, a principios del mes de agosto ella decidió ser bautizada… Ese día le preguntamos a Héctor si él también quería ser bautizado y nos comentó que deseaba esperar un poco… Lo impresionante de esta familia es que todos ellos están involucrados en la iglesia. Miriam, durante la escuela de verano, dejo de trabajar en su consultorio, en las mañanas, para ayudarnos en este evento. Sus hijos, Héctor e Iván, ayudaron como líderes de tropa y su hija (7 años), asistió a la EBV. Como ya dije el 4 de septiembre los jóvenes fueron a un retiro a un lugar llamado “San José del Rincón” y precisamente quien consiguió el lugar para el retiro fue Héctor, Miriam fue para apoyar en las actividades… Aunque la única bautizada hasta el momento es Miriam, toda la familia son miembros regulares de la congregación, los muchachos Héctor e Iván asisten a la célula de Jóvenes.

Let me tell you about a very special family, the Velasquez, they are Hector, Miriam, Hector Jr., Ivan and Montserrat. Hector is a Veterinarian, Miriam is a Doctor. We met them during a marriage class that we had here in the church several years ago. Miriam started visiting on January of this year, she told us about some difficulties in her family and we encourage her to keep on visiting the church. At the beginning the only ones visiting were Miriam and her youngest kid Montse. Latter on her two other kids started coming with her, now the whole family attends church services on a regular basis. We have been studying the bible with her and her husband hector, and at the beginning of August she decided to get baptized. We asked Hector if he wanted to be baptized as well, and he said he would like to wait a little while…the impressive thing about this family is that ever since they started coming they’ve got involved and have been working with the church. During VBS Miriam, who has a private practice, stopped working during the mornings to be able to help with this project, her two teenage sons helped as troop leaders during the VBS and Montserrat attended the event. Like I already mention on September 3^rd the youth group went on a retreat, Miriam went with them as a helper, her husband Hector was the one who found the place…even though the only one who is baptized is Miriam, the whole family attends church services on a regular basis, the sons Hector and Ivan attend the youth small group and we have a bible study with the family once a week. We ask your prayers so that soon Hector, Hector Jr. and Ivan will decide to get baptized.

Junta en Odessa, Tx

Durante las vacaciones de Verano en el ILEB, nos dimos a la tarea de hacer algunos cambios. Antes las oficinas del ILEB se encontraban en la parte trasera del edifico un poco alejadas de la entrada y de los salones donde se dan las clases. Así que cambiamos oficinas, salones y la biblioteca, todavía no terminamos pero vemos que el cambio ha sido provechoso. Eso nos mantuvo ocupados una buna parte de tiempo. Después el 18, 19 y 20 de agosto, tuvimos una junta con los integrantes de la Mesa Directiva del ILEB, vimos asuntos relacionados con el trabajo del instituto y su futuro.

During the summer vacation for ILEB, we made some changes. Before the ILEB offices were in the back of the church building, a bit far a way from the entrance and from the classrooms; therefore we change our offices, classrooms and library. We haven’t finished with all the changes but we’ve notice this change is positive. On august 18^th to the 20^th of August we had a board of directors meeting where we talked about the work we’ve done in ILEB and the future of the institute.

El 24 de agosto iniciamos las clases, un día después de llegar del viaje que hicimos para la junta mencionada. En este ciclo escolar se inscribieron 26 alumnos, las clases iniciaron con mucho entusiasmo. Tenemos nuevamente tres familias que están recibiendo beca, ellos son:
We started classes on the 24th of August a day after we got back from our trip to Odessa, where our meeting took place. This school year we have 26 new students. We started classes with joy and enthusiasm. We have 3 new families who receive the scholar ship, and they are:

Sandro e Imelda, tienen tres hijos Alan, Alex y Azul; ellos son miembros de esta congregación desde el 2002, el año pasado estuvieron estudiando en ILEB, ahora están de tiempo completo.
Sandro and Imelda, their kids are Alan, Alex and Azul, they are members of our congregation since 2002, they were ILEB students last year and now they are full time students.

Servando y Angélica, ellos vinieron de Ensenada, B.C., tienen tres hijos, los contactamos a través del hermano Reyes, él es uno de los egresados del ILEB y actualmente está predicando en Ensenada.
Servando and Angelica, who came from Ensenada, Baja California, they have 3 kids. We got in touch with them through Reyes one of the former Graduates of ILEB who is currently preaching in Ensenada.

Emilio y Marisol, ellos vienen de Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Efraín Paulín es el predicador de aquella congregación, un egresado de la primera generación de ILEB, fue quien nos llamó para recomendarnos a Emilio y Marisol.
Emilio and Marisol, who come from Cozumel. They were recommended by the preacher from one of the congregations there, his name is Efrain Paulin who is a former graduate of ILEB.

Otra noticia es lo que Dios está haciendo con los tres egresados de la última generación de ILEB, Federico, Jorge y Arturo. Jorge por el momento empezó a vender donas, negocio que tenía antes, para poder sostener a su familia, pero él y su esposa están apoyándonos mucho aquí en la congregación en Toluca… Federico ha decidido iniciar una nueva obra en Zictepec, un poblado cercano a Toluca donde ya hay como 10 bautizados, pero primero debe encontrar quien se haga cargo de la Obra en Cholula, donde estaba apoyando, y Arturo está en el proceso de arreglar los detalles para ir a trabajar a una congregación en un lugar llamado Cuanijuilapan, en el Estado de Guerrero…, pedimos sus oraciones para que Dios permita llevar a cabo estos planes de estos hermanos.

Other news we want to share is what God is doing with our former Graduates from the last generation of ILEB, Federico, Jorge y Arturo. Jorge started selling daunts, a business he used to have to be able to support his family. Jorge and his wife keep on working here in the Toluca Church… Federico had decided to start a new congregation in Zictepec, a little town near Toluca, where there are 10 members already, Arturo is in the process of going to a congregation in Cuanijuilapan on the State of Guerrero to work…we ask for your prayers so God can make all of this plans happen for our brothers.

Llevamos ya 12 años publicando bimestralmente la crónica CRISTIANA en español, hemos recibido muchas satisfacciones de este ministerio. Los hermanos Cubanos me mandan seguido cartas de agradecimiento por el envío de la revista. Les quiero comentar que he recibido cartas de varios hermanos, sobre todo de EE. UU., hermanos que también publican revistas o periódicos en español de la Iglesia de Cristo, pidiéndonos que les mandemos nuestra revista y que publiquemos sus anuncios…, esto es importante porque se cumple el propósito de la crónica, el de unir al pueblo de Dios, esto me hace pensar que estamos haciendo bien nuestro trabajo en este Ministerio.

We’ve been publishing the Christian Chronicle in Spanish for 12 years now, and we are very pleased with the ministry. The Cuban brothers have been sending me letter thanking the work and efforts to put out the Chronicle. I have received several letters from brothers, mainly form USA, brothers that publish news magazines in Spanish for the Church of Christ as well. They were asking us to send them the Christian Chronicle in Spanish and asking if we would be willing to publish announcements form them…this is great because the purpose of the Chronicle is always been uniting God’s people. All of this makes us realize that we are doing or work right. We want to ask you to pray so that we can keep on growing and being able to have more fellowship with our brothering.

Nuestra hija Alin regresó de su primer viaje de trabajo a un crucero en Mayo, pero se volvió a ir el 4 de julio ahora trabaja en el Celebrity Solstice Cruises, está trabajando en la cocina principal, sirviendo la cena para los comensales, está muy contenta nos dice cuando se comunica con nosotros..

Our daughter Alin is still in her trip on the Cruise Celebrity Solstice, she is now working on the main kitchen.

Nuestro hijo menor Jaret, sigue entusiasmado con la idea de ir a Francia, hace unos días tuvo una junta y el número de los posibles candidatos a ir, se redujo de 75 a 45 y dicen los directivos de la escuela que todavía se va a reducir a 30 personas…, pedimos sus oraciones por Jaret, si es la voluntad de Dios que vaya en ese viaje, una condición es que debe aprender francés, y en octubre iniciarían las clases de Francés.

Jaret is still on excited about the possibility to go to France, a few days ago he had a meeting and now the candidates to go on this trip has gone down from 75 to 45, and the board of directors said they candidates list will still go down to 30 students…we ask your prayers for Jaret, that if its God’s will he would be able to go on this trip. One of the conditions that they put is that he needs to speak French, so he will start French lesson in October.

Este 2010, nuestro propósito como congregación es la de: “Ser Verdaderos Discípulos”, siguiendo las marcas del verdadero discípulo de Cristo: Permanecer en la Palabra (Juan 8:31-32), Amar al Prójimo (Juan 13:34-35), Llevar Mucho Fruto (Juan 15:5, 8 y Renunciar a lo que Poseemos (Lucas 14:26,27,33) Y nos hemos organizado bajo este esquema para ver un tema por trimestre... De esta manera, al concluir el 2010, habremos abarcado las cuatro marcas del verdadero discípulo de Cristo. Lo que buscamos es que al concluir este año, todos en la congregación, sepamos ser verdaderos discípulos y así, todo el demás trabajo en la Iglesia, sería más fácil. Podremos establecer ancianos con mayor facilidad, podríamos establecer nuevas misiones, podríamos estar enviando misioneros apoyados por esta congregación, y podríamos tener Ministros pagados por la Iglesia de Toluca, y todo esto porque cada uno reconocería con mayor facilidad cual es su lugar en el cuerpo y estaría más dispuesto a hacer su parte..
This 2010 our purpose as a church is to become “Real Disciples of Christ” following the traits of a real disciple: Abide in the Word (John 8:31-32), Love one another (13:34-35), Bear much fruit (John 15:5,8) and Forsake all we have (Luke 14:26,27,33) We have organized to use one of this topics by trimester…Therefore, by the end of this year we would have covered all the traits of a “Real Disciple”. What we are looking for is that everyone in the congregation knows what it is to be a real disciple of Christ. We believe that if everyone becomes a “Real Disciple” the work of the church will be easier to do. That way we can establish elders more easily, we could start new missions, and hopefully send missionaries supported buy our own congregation, we could have ministers paid by our congregation. We believe we could accomplished all of this because every member would acknowledge what is his/her place on the body and would start doing it.

En el primer trimestre nos enfocamos en la primera marca, “Permanecer en la Palabra”, de enero a marzo se predicó sobre este tema, y tratamos de aprender lo importante que es para el cristiano hacerlo un hábito. Esto ha representado un cambio para la Iglesia, porque las actividades se planean también por trimestre. En enero tuvimos nuestro convivio y todo fue muy emotivo. En Febrero un seminario sobre Arqueología Bíblica, lo impartió Larry Foster. En Marzo una fiesta para recordar los años ochentas, todos los asistentes nos divertimos muchísimo y recordamos épocas pasadas de nuestra juventud, todo en un ambiente de hermandad y armonía...

On the first trimester we focused on the first trait “Abide in the Word”. From January to March we preached about this topic and we try to learn how important it is to make reading, meditating in the word a habit. This has represented a change in the church, because the activities for the church have been planed by trimester. In January we had our 1st pot luck of the year, which was very moving. In February we had a seminar about Bible Archeology, given by Larry Foster. In March we had a party to remember the great 80’s, we all had a moment to remember our youth, and have lots of fun in a brotherly atmosphere.

En el segundo trimestre estamos viendo la segunda marca; Amar al Prójimo, y ahora vamos a tener convivio cada mes con toda la Iglesia... Estamos aprendiendo como amarnos mejor y como esto ayuda al crecimiento de la Iglesia. Los temas a predicar van dirigidos a ayudarnos a amarnos unos a otros como dice en Juan 13:34 y así provocar que los invitados vean que somos verdaderos discípulos de Cristo.

On the second trimester we are looking at the second trait “Love one Another”, now we’re going to have an other pot luck, and now we’re having a pot luck every month…We’re learning how to better love each other, and with this we can grow more. The topics for the preaching’s are focused on loving each other like it says in John 13:34 and in that way we can show to those visiting that we really are disciples of Christ.

La escuela dominical de los niños, también sufrió cambios, ahora está a cargo Jorge y Reyna Pérez y Blanquita Castro, ellos están haciendo un gran trabajo, todas las maestras están siguiendo el plan de enseñarles a los niños como ser verdaderos discípulos.

Sunday School, has suffered a lot of changes, Jorge and Reyna Perez and Blanca Castro are now in charge of it. They are doing a great job, and they are all teaching the traits of a Real Disciple.

En Julio de 2010, si Dios lo permite, vamos a graduar a nuestra X Generación. Los alumnos siguen estudiando con mucho entusiasmo. Ahora estamos utilizando la tecnología para recibir clases por Videoconferencias, en el mes de abril estamos cursando la 4ª materia que se imparte por este medio, nuestro maestro es John Dyas, uno de los ex-misioneros, ÉL nos está dándonos la clase sobre como trabajar en equipo, John tituló la clase: “Como Liderear en la Iglesia sin Matarnos Unos a Otros”. El tema puede parecer chistoso, pero es algo muy serio, porque una realidad en el trabajo en la Iglesia, es que los problemas están a la orden del día. Además de los alumnos del nivel avanzado que están tomando la clase, hay un total de 17 alumnos asistiendo regularmente.

July 2010, Lord willing, we’re going to have our tenth graduation. The students keep working and studying really hard. We are using newer technology to receive classes by video conferences, on the month of April we started the 4th class, through this technology. This class about how to work as a team was title: “How to lead the Church without killing each other”, taught by John Dyas, a former missionary. You might think this topic sounds very funny, but it’s something very serious. When you work for the church problems are hunting you. Besides the last year students of ILEB there is a total of 17 students taking the class.

Christian Chronicle News…

Las cartas que recibimos dirigidas a la crónica siempre nos alientan a continuar con esta labor informativa... Hace unas semanas recibí una carta de un predicador Cubano, Ramón Pérez del Prado actualmente radica en España con su hija, en donde nos expresa su agradecimiento por hacer llegar la revista a muchos lugares donde hay Iglesia de Cristo en Cuba. Posterior a su carta, recibimos otras tres de otros hermanos Cubanos reafirmando lo dicho por Ramón. Lo más impactante para mi fue que al leer las cartas me di cuenta que entre ellos no se habían comunicado, para que hubieran podido ponerse de acuerdo y mandar los cuatro, cartas similares... Lo que esto quiere decir es que la crónica está impactando a los hermanos Cubanos y esperamos que al igual a mucho otros hermanos en otras partes del mundo de habla hispana.

The letters we receive for the Christian Chronicle always give us encouragement to keep on working with this informative via… A couple of weeks a go I received a letter form a Cuban preacher, Ramon Perez del Prado, he is now living in Spain with his daughter. In his letter he expresses his appreciation to us for sending the Christian Chronicle in Spanish to different places in Cuba. Besides Perez’s letter we got another 3 letter from other Cuban brothers say the same thing that Perez said. The thing that was the most surprising to me was to see that they hadn’t communicated in between each other, so they never agreed on sending those 4 letters to encourage us, they all send them separately. All of this let me know that the Christian Chronicle in Spanish is making a big impact within the brothering form Cuba, and we hope that a lot of others are being encouraged through the Chronicle.

También recibimos cartas de hermanos de República Dominicana, en donde nos informan de la situación en Haití con la Iglesia, y posteriormente de hermanos en Chile, dándonos reporte de la situación después de los terremotos en ese país. Generalmente recibimos cartas de El Salvador, España, Cuba, ahora Republica Dominicana y Chile, por supuesto que de México además que traducimos al español noticias publicadas en The Chiristian Chronicle, (contamos con su permiso expreso) Traducimos secciones como Alrededor del Mundo, por ejemplo, en donde encontramos información de muchas partes del mundo.

We also received letters from Dominican Republic, where we’ve been getting information about our brothers in Haiti. We’ve received letters from our brothers in Chile as well, where they tell us about the situation they are in. We usually get letter form El Salvador, Spain, Cuba, now Dominican Republic and Chile, as well as Mexico and we translate news directly form the Christian Chronicle (we have their authorization). We translate sections like Around the world, where we can find lots of information form all around instead of just Latin America.

Family News…

En reportes anteriores hemos comentado que nuestra hija Alin, fue a trabajar a un crucero. Gracias a Dios Alin regresa a casa en mayo, lleva ya casi seis meses fuera de casa y la extrañamos mucho y ya queremos que sea esa fecha para que esté entre nosotros. Los hermanos de la Iglesia aquí en Toluca constantemente le mandan saludos y han sido muy bellos con nosotros preocupándose por como le va a ella en su trabajo y su vida en el barco. Alin encontró un grupo con el que se reúne a leer la Biblia los domingos por la noche, pero ya extraña la iglesia de Toluca.

In previous reports we mention our daughter Alin left to work on a curse ship. She is coming home on the month of may. Alins is been out of the house for about 6 months and we miss her very much, so we cant wait until she comes home. The brothers and sisters here are constantly asking about her and wonder how she’s doing as far as her job. Thanks to God, Alin found a church group that she gathers with every Sunday night, but none the less she misses her home congregation.

De la escuela donde estudia nuestro hijo menor Jareth, nos mandaron llamar para darnos una noticia muy alentadora; de los 1200 estudiantes que hay en la escuela, escogieron a 50 para ir en un intercambio a Francia y Jareth fue uno de los escogidos por su promedio. Eso nos llenó de orgullo y ánimo, solo tendrá que mantener su promedio de 9.0 para que no sea sacado del equipo que viajará Francia. El viaje se va a realizar, primero Dios, en enero del 2012. Pedimos sus oraciones por Jarteh y por nosotros, porque nosotros tendríamos que cubrir todos los gastos de su viaje que son aproximadamente $ 30,000.

We were called from Jaret’s school to give us wonderful news, from a total of 1200 students in his school, they chose 50 to go in a trip to France, and Jaret was selected because of his good grades. Jaret has an average of 9 from a scale of 1 to 10, which would be about 3.0 GPA average. This trip would be on January 2012, and he needs to keep this average to be able to go on this trip. We ask for your prayers for him and for us, since we would have to cover all his expenses and it all adds up to $2,500.00 dollars..

Nuestra hija mayor Joselyn, está muy feliz en su matrimonio, su esposo Adam se ve muy contento con su vida de casado, (a pesar que tiene a sus suegros cerca y a sus padres lejos, je je je) Ellos están trabajando con el grupo de jóvenes de la Iglesia y su trabajo es muy intenso. Ahora el grupo es como de 25 jovencitos entre los 13 a los 18 años.

Our daughter Joselyn is very happy with her marriage, her husband Adam also looks really happy, even though his in-laws are very near to then and his family is not hahaha…They are working with the Youth Group, and their work is very intense. Currently the youth group is of about 25 kids between the ages of 13 and 18 years old.

La crónica sigue siendo solicitada por los hermanos de habla hispana..., casi cada mes recibo cartas de Cuba, El Salvador, España, y muchas partes de México, en donde nos piden que sigamos adelante con esta importante labor de información.
The Chronicle keeps on being requested by our Hispanic brothering. Almost every moth I get letter from El Salvador, Cuba, Spain and many parts of Mexico where they ask us to keep on creating this important communication via.

Los hermanos Cubanos nos alientan mucho a que no dejemos de enviarles la revista, insisten en que les sirve mucho a ellos. En el 2007 y 2008 tuve la oportunidad de viajar a Cuba a una reunión de predicadores a nivel nacional, y ellos en cuanto sabían que yo era el editor de la crónica, me decían cosas que me alentaron a segur adelante con esta labor periodística...
The brothering in Cuba keep on encouraging us to send this news paper, they have commented plenty of times how encouraging it’s to receive it. On 2007 and 2008 I had the opportunity to travel to Cuba for the National Preachers Reunion. The people there as soon as they new I was the editor of the Christian Chronicle in Spanish started telling me wonderful things that encouraged me to keep making.

Casi todos los días recibo correos electrónicos de algún hermano solicitando la crónica, o mandando algún reporte para publicar, o una carta para saludarnos, y muchos para alentarnos a seguir adelante.
Almost every day I get e-mails from different people asking to get the Chronicle or sending reports that wish can be published, some write just to send their greetings and many more send us encouraging notes.

Considero que la crónica CRISTIANA en español, esta cumpliendo su propósito de informar y unir los lasos de hermandad que ya de por si tenemos. En días pasados he recibido correo de algunos hermanos que se encargan de otras publicaciones en español, para que colaboremos y nos apoyemos con reportajes y noticias mutuemente.
The purpose of the Christian Chronicle in Spanish is to inform and unite the Spanish speaking brothering around the world, and I believe that this purpose is being met. Here lately I’ve gotten in contact with other brothers that work on little Christian news papers in Spanish, and they have requested that we exchange articles and other information.

Las Clases de ILEB a todo vapor...

Overboard ILEB Classes

El 19 de agosto pasado comenzaron las clases en el Instituto, cada curso dura 5 semanas de clase. Durante el año escolar se van a impartir 60 clases en los tres niveles de estudio que forman nuestro nuevo plan.
August 19th ILEB classes started each class last 5 weeks. During the school year well be covering 60 different classes for the 3 different grades we have for the Institute.

A mi me tocó en agosto impartir el Taller de Oración con los alumnos del nivel avanzado. Juntos aprendimos mucho y estamos orando por el futuro de las tres familias becadas, ellos terminan sus estudios este ciclo escolar, y primeramente Dios se gradúan en julio de 2010. Al concluir sus estudios, se termina su beca, estamos orando para que Dios abra las puertas y que ellos puedan conseguir apoyo para seguir trabajando en la obra de Dios con sus dones y habilidades.

Last August I taught a workshop in prayer for the last grade students of the Institute. We all learned a lot together, and we’re praying for the 3 families that have scholarships. This family’s will finish up their studies this year and will hopefully graduate this July. These families will loose their economical support once they graduate, therefore we’re praying that God will open up doors so that these families can fins support so they can keep on working full time for the Church using all their gifts and abilities.

Durante este año escolar se han abierto nuevos Centros de Estudio que se suman al esfuerzo de ILEB de capacitar hombres y mujeres para servir en el reino del Señor. Actualmente tenemos 15 Centros de Estudio en México y el Extranjero: Cuautitlan, San Mateo, Celaya, Guanajuato, San Miguel, Toltecas, Torre Blanca, Monterrey, Cozumel, San Luis Potosí, Ciudad Victoria, Notario Canada y Ciudad David en Panamá.

During this school year there have been several branches of ILEB opened, with the purpose of preparing ladies and gentleman to serve the Lord. We have now 15 different branches around Mexico and other Latin-American countries. This are: : Cuautitlan, San Mateo, Celaya, Guanajuato, San Miguel, Toltecas, Torre Blanca, Monterrey, Cozumel, San Luis Potosí, Ciudad Victoria, Notario Canada and David in Panama.

La muerte a estado rondando la Iglesia

Death has been around the Church

Es difícil de explicar, pero es un hecho de la vida real... si lo queremos o no, de todos modos sucede... y esa es la muerte... Es un hecho que causa dolor en los que se quedan y confusión en los incrédulos... porque para nosotros los cristianos, la muerte es un paso a la vida eterna... Apocalipsis 14:13

Its hard to explain but is a life reality…whether we want it or not, it happens anyway…and that is death. It’s a fact that death causes pain to those that stay, and confusion to the unbelievers…because for those of us that are Christians, death is the last step to heave… Revelations 14:13.

Les quiero comentar que el año 2009, la muerte estuvo demasiado cerca de los miembros de la Iglesia aquí en Toluca. En algunos casos fueron directamente hermanos de la Iglesia los fallecidos, en otros un familiar o un ser querido de alguno de la Iglesia:
I want to let you all know that death has been very near to church members here in Toluca on 2009. In some cases brothers from the church have died, in other cases they lost a family member.

Enero... Conchita Ovando, ella era una hermana en Cristo, vivía frente al edificio de la iglesia. Nicolás González Montes, él era otro hermano en Cristo, papá de toda una familia de hermanos muy queridos.
January: Conchita Ovando, she was our sister in Christ, she lived in front of the church building, mom of Juanita.Nicolás González Montes, he was our brother in Christ. He was the father of a family of brothers in Christ that we dearly love.

Marzo... Carlos Franco, el no era cristiano, fue esposo de Chelo y papá de Pepe Franco, dos queridos hermanos. El papá de Ivonn Saenz, otra querida hermana de la Iglesia.
March: Carlos Franco, husband of Chelos and father of Pepe Franco who are brothers in Christ. Ivonn Saenz’ dad died, another sister in Christ.

Abril... Carlos, primo de Edith Reneaum, una querida hermana, él nos visitó varias veces.
April: Edith Reneaum cousin, she’s our sister in Christ. He visited several times.

Mayo... El papá de nuestro querido hermano Polo Sosa, Polo y toda su familia son miembros de la Iglesia.
May: Polo Sosa’s dad, Polo y and his entire family are our brothers in Christ.

Julio... Arturo Victoria, él fue un hermano muy entregado, le faltaba una pierna, pero le sobraba corazón.
July: Arturo Victoria, was a devoted brother in Christ, he was missing a leg, but he had a huge heart.

Septiembre... El papá del Dr Luis Enrique Pérez, Luis y su familia son hermanos muy queridos por nosotros. Fallecen dos hermanos de Oregon, amigos de Raúl y Kim.
September: Dr Luis Enrique Pérez’s dad, Luis and his family are our brothers.
Two brothers from Oregon, who where really close friends with Raul and Kim Solis.

Octubre... Onoria, mamá de Blanquita Castro y Oralia Castro, ellas y sus familias, son miembros muy fieles de la Iglesia. Socorro, mamá de Felipe Barranco, ella era bautizada, Felipe es esposo de Isabel, papá de Andrea.

October: Blanquita Castro’s mom, her and ther sister Oralia are faithful members.Felipe Barranco’s mom, she was baptized, Felipe and his family are all Christians and working at a new congregation here in Toluca.

Noviembre... Joel Nájera, él fue el presidente de la Asociación Religiosa de la Iglesia de Cristo en México, yo trabaje muy cerca de él cuando fui Secretario de la A.R
November: I was informed of the death of Joel Nájera, he was the president of the Religious Association of the Church of Christ in Mexico. I worked with him very closely when I was the Secretary of the Religious Association.

Casi cada mes tuvimos un deceso, pero también, como contraste hemos tenido muchos nacimientos, personas que se han bautizado... Tan solo en octubre, durante la Reunión Femenil, a la que asistieron un promedio de 350 mujeres de diversas congregaciones, se bautizaron 6 mujeres... Un total de 22 bautizos en el año.

Almost every month we’ve had someone die, but we’ve also have had lots of baptisms. During the Women’s Reunion in October 6 women got baptized, in total we had 22 baptisms.

La iglesia ha estado muy activa, en Julio tuvimos la Escuela Bíblica de Verano “Rancho Avalancha”; en Agosto, iniciamos el nuevo ciclo del ILEB; en Septiembre tuvimos nuestra tradicional “Noche Mexicana”; en Octubre, como ya comenté, la IX Reunión Femenil; en Noviembre, el seminario de parejas “El Desafío del Amor” y la Reunión Regional Juvenil a la que asistieron 110 jóvenes.

The congregation has been really active. In July we had a VBS called “Rancho Avalancha” in August we started ILEB’s new school year. In September we had our typical Mexican Night. In October we had the Women’s Reunion. In November we had a Seminar called “The Challenge of Love” and Youth Rally, we had 110 teens attend, in between other things.

El 19 de agosto pasado, comenzamos con las clases en el Instituto. Cada curso dura 5 semanas de clase. Los primeros cursos impartidos fueron: Evidencias Cristianas, con Luis Manuel González, Griego Básico, con Don Potter, Taller de Oración.

The past August 19th we started with the classes on the ILEB. Every curse last about 5 weeks each. The first ones were Christians Evidencies with Luis Manuel Gonzalez. Basic Greek with Don Potter and a Prayer Group.

A mi me tocó el taller de oración..., estuve con los alumnos del nivel avanzado, y juntos aprendimos mucho, estamos orando por el futuro de las tres familias becadas, ellos terminan este ciclo escolar, y primeramente Dios se gradúan en julio del 2010. Al concluir sus estudios, se termina su beca, ahora los alumnos están 100% entregados al estudio y la participación en la Iglesia. Juntos estamos orando para que Dios abra las puertas y que ellos puedan conseguir apoyo para seguir trabajando en la obra de Dios con sus dones y habilidades.

I was in charge of the Prayer Group. I was with the 3rd level students and together we learned a lot. We pray for the future of the three familys with a Scholarship. They finish this scholar year and they will graduate on the summer of 2010. When they finish so is their scholarship. Right now their 100% commited to the study and the participation in the Church. Together we are parying that the Lord may open doors and that they can get support to continue working in the work of God with their gifts and abilities.

Nosotros por nuestra parte, debemos prepararnos para la próxima generación de alumnos becados que tendremos, Dios mediante, en el ciclo 2010-2011, gracias al apoyo que ustedes nos mandan.

We on our part, got to prepare for the next generation of scholarship students that we will have, God willing, on 2011. Thanks to the support that you send us.

Además del ILEB, en la Iglesia seguimos teniendo buenas nuevas, tres almas más fueron añadidas al reino de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, con estas ya suman 22. Por otro lado, nuestras hermanas están preparándose para recibir el 24 de octubre a todas las invitadas a su IX Reunión Femenil aquí en Toluca.

Apart from the ILEB on the Church we still having good news. Three new souls where added to the the Kingdom of the Lord and savior Jesuschrist. With these it’s a total 22 new souls.

Por favor oren por el crecimiento de la Iglesia, el fortalecimiento de los becados y que Dios nos siga utilizando en su obra.

Please pray for the Church, the scholarship student’s spiritual strenght and that God keep using us in His work.

Durante todo el ciclo escolar pasado, estuvimos trabajando muy fuerte con la idea de cambiar algunas cosas en el ILEB. A raíz de una revisión exhaustiva que realizamos los integrantes de la Mesa Directiva de ILEB, nos dimos cuenta que era necesario enfrentar un cambio en el Plan de Estudios y la organización del Instituto.
During the entire last school year, we were working hard to change some things in ILEB. After making an in depth review the board of directors decided that it was necessary to change our study plan and the organization of the Institute.

Después de muchas juntas, el viaje a Odessa, Tx., en diciembre de 2008, llamadas telefónicas y demás cosas necesarias para establecer los acuerdos necesario, por fin llegamos al objetivo buscado y este ciclo escolar 2009-2010, inicia el cambio en el ILEB.
After several meetings, our trip to Odessa, Tx. In December 2008, long phone calls and other necessary arraignments, finally we came to the objective we’ve been wanting and this new school year 2009- 2010 ILEB has started the change.

Uno de los mandamientos que leemos en la Biblia, es el de ir y predicar la Palabra de Dios... (Marcos 16:15,16), El apóstol Pablo dijo en la 1er carta a los Corintios, Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio; no con sabiduría de palabras, para que no se haga vana la cruz de Cristo... (1ra Corintios 1:17) Y cuando el mensaje es predicado, Dios da el crecimiento...

Gracias a nuestro Padre Celestial, aquí en Toluca hemos sido fieles testigos de este hecho. En los últimos meses el Señor nos ha bendecido con varios bautismos, hemos visto el poder de Dios trabajando en los corazones de las personas. Son ya catorce personas las que han sido alcanzadas por el evangelio... y uno de ellos recientemente fue Jaret nuestro hijo.

Jaret, me había estado comentando que quería ser bautizado, desde la vez que fuimos a Odessa, el verano pasado, había comentado su inquietud de conocer más sobre el bautismo, yo pensaba que todavía estaba muy chico y le dije que esperara un poco, pero desde hace unas dos semanas estuvimos hablado sobre su salvación..., el viernes 26 de junio, Bety y yo estábamos en la célula a la que asistimos y nos llamó Joselyn, para decirnos que Jaret ya se había decidido y se quería bautizar. Llegamos y él estaba hablando con Adam y Jorge Pérez, los líderes de los jóvenes, les pregunté que qué pensaban, si creían que Jaret estaba listo, ambos dijeron que sí..., Jaret me había pedido que yo lo bautizara y así lo hice. Dios me dio el privilegio de ver a mis tres hijos bajar a las aguas bautismales y salvar su alma al obedecer el evangelio.

Bety y yo le damos muchas gracias a Dios por este hecho, sabemos que la vida en Cristo no es fácil, pero quiero decir que cada persona a nuestro alrededor, ha contribuido para que ahora toda la familia seamos cristianos.

Pedimos sus oraciones para que Dios guarde a Jarte y a los otros 13 que se han bautizado, ellos son: Edgar, Gaby, Irene, Rafael, Rocio, Toño, Lety, Susana, Tere y Alma de la congregación de Toluca, y tres personas más de la congregación de San Pedro Cholula, Laura, Eduardo y .

Este mes de mayo sentimos que fue muy largo..., los primeros días todavía estábamos con el problema de la Influenza AH1N1, y las actividades de la iglesia se suspendieron en su mayoría... Los niños regresaron a clase el día 11 de mayo, y por supuesto que esta situación estaba trastornando todos los planes que se tenían en la Iglesia. Por ejemplo, la Escuela Bíblica de Verano, “Rancho Avalancha”, pensábamos que se iba a tener que mover de fecha, porque las autoridades educativas habían informado que la fecha para que los niños salieran de vacaciones de verano, sería hasta el 14 de julio; Rancho Avalancha estaba programado del 13 al 17 de julio, esto representaba un verdadero problema, porque mas de 50 personas son las que están involucradas en este proyecto. La iglesia estuvo orando, específicamente el grupo que va a trabajar en esta EBV, y el Señor respondió... Los niños van a salir de clases el 10 de julio, y la fecha, nos han dicho los papás es perfecta para la EBV.
The month of May felt really long…at the very beginning of the month we still had the problem of the Swine Flu, therefore most of the activities at church were canceled. The kids went back to school May the 11th. Due to the time when the kids went back to school a lot of the activities at church were affected, for example: we thought that we would have to change the dates for our VBS “Avalanche Ranch”, because the dates for school to be out where going to be moved until July the 14th. Avalanche Ranch was programmed for the 13th to 14th of July. This change was a problem because of the previous commitments of the 50 people involved in this program. The church and specially the workers for this VBS prayed intensely and God answered our prayers. The last day of school for the kids is going to be the 10th of July, which makes our VBS to go as planned. Some parents have mention that the dates for the VBS are perfect.

En los primeros días de mayo, recibimos una invitación de los hermanos de Houston, para tomar una clase por videoconferencia. Este seminario se impartió los días 25 y 26 de mismo mes. El tema fue excelente, “Resolviendo Conflictos entre hermanos de la Iglesia, el expositor Glen Henton.
At the beginning of May, a church in Huston invited us to take a seminar through videoconference. This seminar was given the 25th and 26th of May, by Glen Henton title “Solving Conflicts between brothers and sisters in the Church”. This was the 1st time we are able to take a class through videoconference. Now we know we have the technology to take classes this way and Lord willing one day we can teach some classes around the world with this piece of technology.

Esta fue la primera vez que pudimos tomar una clase por este medio; ahora ya estamos en posibilidades de recibir, y si Dios lo permite impartir, clases por este medio. Fue muy buen tema y las clases estuvieron excelentes, esta videoconferencia se impartió desde Quito, Ecuador. Aquí en Toluca asistimos 10 personas... Este hecho histórico marca una diferencia, ahora en el ILEB estamos haciendo uso de la tecnología más avanzada para dar y poder tomar clases desde cualquier parte del mundo. Este sistema de videoconferencias, nos acerca con hermanos que aunque estén en otro país, los podemos ver y oír como si estuviéramos en el mismo salón de clases. Los maestros pueden enseñar a muchas más personas a la vez, la enseñanza se pude transmitir a muchas más personas sin tener que estar viajando por todas partes del mundo.
The seminar was very interesting, the topic was very helpful. The speaker was live in Quito, Ecuador. Here in Toluca we had 10 people attend this seminar. For us this seminar was a huge event that marks the history of ILEB, because now we can give and receive the classes through this piece of technology all around the world. With this videoconference system we can be closer to a lot of the students that are in other parts of the world, they can hear see us and hear us like they were with the teacher. With this technology the teacher can teach more people at the same time in various parts of the country and the world.

También estamos trabajando en el Plan de Estudios que ILEB tendrá a partir, si Dios permite, del próximo ciclo escolar 2009-2010.
We are working on a new system for ILEB to work with next school year, 2009-2010.

Al mismo tiempo estamos tratando de reclutar más alumnos, y por el momento ya tenemos noticias que viene una pareja de Palenque, Chiapas para estudiar en el ILEB.
We are trying to enroll more students, and as of right now we have a couple from Palenque, Chiapas coming to study at ILEB here in Toluca.

Lunes 6 de abril de 2009.-- Abril ha sido un mes de contrastes, primero tuvimos las vacaciones de semana santa, y eso nos afecta de cierta manera porque muchos aprovechan para ir de vacaciones con la familia y hay ausentismo en la iglesia, aproximadamente nos reunimos unas 280 a 300 personas cada domingo, durante esos días baja como a 200 o a veces menos.

Monday April the 6th- April has been a contrasting month, 1st we had the “Holly Week” (our form of spring break), this affects the attendance of the congregation because a lot of the members go on vacation so we have les people during church services. Usually we have about 280 to 300 people for service each Sunday, during this time of the year we have about 200 or even less people.

Viernes 17 de abril.-- Tuvimos dos bautizos, uno de ellos es Rafael. Rafa es amigo de nuestro hermano Merced, él se dedica también a vender zapatos. Merced estuvo estudiando con Rafa durante algunos meses, hablando casi cada tres días con él sobre su situación espiritual y por fin, después de una plática que tuvimos el día del cumpleaños de Lolita, esposa de Merced, Rafa decidió ser bautizado. La otra persona es esposa de un hermano llamado Erwin, ella se llama Irene, tenía ya algunos meses de asistir a los servicios acompañando a Erwin y este día tomo la decisión de ser bautizada.

Friday April the 17th- we had 2 baptisms, one of them was a friend of Merced, his name is Rafael and he is also in the Shoe sale business. Merced had been studding with Rafa for several months. Merced talked to Rafa almost every other day about his spiritual life and what he need to do. And finally after a chat we had at Lolitas birthday party, wife of Merced, Rafa decided to get baptized. The other person was Irene, wife of our brother Erwin. Irene had been coming to church for several months and finally made the decision to get baptized.

Domingo 19 de abril.-- Nos visitó nuestro hermano Fernando Arroyo, Fernando y su esposa Tony están trabajando en San Miguel de Allende, ellos son dos egresados del ILEB. Fernando vino a predicar ese día, habló del tema de ser Atalaya, nos hizo reflexionar sobre la necesidad de ser atalaya a toda la gente que no conoce del Señor. Su visita obedece a una serie de predicaciones de corte evangelístico, fue muy buena su plática y nos animó muchísimo.

Sunday April the 19th- we had the visit of our brother Fernando Arroyo and his wife Tony. They are working in San Miguel de Allende. They are graduates from ILEB. Fernando came to preach about being “Watchman” and made us reflect about the need that it is to be “watchman” for all of those that know the Lord. We invited him to peach because we’ve been having a series of preaching’s related to this topic. It was a great sermon and it encouraged the whole congregation.

Lunes 20 de abril.—Me enfermé ese día, me dio fiebre y tos. Hablé con mi médico para saber que tomar, me mandó medicina y la sorpresa fue que el viernes 24 nos enteramos sobre la epidemia que se estaba registrando en México. Ese mismo día, nuestra hija Alin nos dijo que se sentía mal, antes de que se pusiera peor, hablamos con el doctor y nos fue a visitar, él es un hermano de la iglesia, se llama Luis Enrique, nos visitó y nos dio medicina, nos dijo que no tenía nada que ver con la enfermedad que se estaba propagando, pero que era bueno empezar a cuidarse y atenderse...

Monday April the 20th- I had fever and a little cough, so I talk to the doctor and he prescribed me some things. To my surprise on Friday the 24th we found out about the swine flu. That same day our daughter Alin told us that she was feeling sick as well. Before anything else happened we called the doctor, who is a brother from the church, and he went to see us at home and prescribed other things for us and assured us that our sickness had nothing to do with the swine flu.

29 de abril.-- Al final del mes ya es muy conocido lo que pasa en el mundo, pero nosotros estamos confiando que Dios tiene todo bajo control, no dejamos de orar al Señor, incluso hicimos una compromiso como congregación de orar todos los días a las 7:00 p.m. por esta situación. Pedimos que se unan a nuestra oración y pidamos a Dios que se acabe esta epidemia. Que el Señor los bendiga.

April the 29th- By the end of the month the news about the swine flu are known globally, but we are trusting that God has everything under control. We keep on praying about all of this and as a congregation we decided to pray every day at 7pm for this epidemic. And we ask you to pray with us. May Go bless you.

8 de Marzo. -- Nos reunimos en casa de Erasmo Valencia para convivir y agradecer a Felipe Barranco y a su familia, (Isabel y Andrea), todo el tiemp que han estado sirviendo en diferentes ministerios en la Iglesia. Ellos se encargaban de preparar la Cena del Señor y de ser anfitriones, además de muchas otras cosas en las que apoya, por ejemplo, Isabel sirve como maestra para las mujeres en el ILEB, Andrea está dando clase a los niños de 11 a 13 años y Felipe siempre ha sido un siervo muy entregado. La familia Barranco decidió dejar un rato el ministerio de prepaprar la Cena del Señor y ser anfitriones, ya llevaban algunos años haciendolo, y tomar un desacanso.

March 8th, we had the opportunity to fellowship with Erasmo Valencia and the Barranco family. We used this time to thank Felipe, Isabel and Andrea Barranco for all the time they’ve spent serving the Lord through the different ministries they had under they charge. They used to fix the Lord’s Supper; they were the greeters every Sunday morning, besides many other things. Isabel is still one of the women’s teachers for ILEB, Andrea is been teaching Sunday morning class for kids that are 11 to 13th years old. Felipe has always been a faithful servant. The Barranco family decided to take a brake from being the Greeters and preparing the Lords Supper.

Estabamos en esa reunión cuando recibí una llamada de nusetra querida hermana Chely, pidiendome que fuera a orar con su tía, quien estaba a punto de fallecer, al hospital, ese día fui y oramos con la familia de Chely porque no pude entrar a ver a su tía ya que estaba en la sla de cuidados intensivos....

I was in a meeting when I got a call from our dear sister Chely, asking me to go pray for her aunt, who was about to die in the Hospital. I went and prayed with Chely and her family at the waittign room. Chely’s aunt was in the area of intensive care, therefore, I couldn’t get inside to pray directly with her.

12 de Marzo de 2009. --Este día recibí un mensaje en mi celular de Chely, en donde me decía que su tía ya había fallecido, pero al mismo tiempo me dió otra noticia, "que su suegro, el papá de otro querido hermano, Pepe Franco, esposo de nusetra querida hermana Chelo Franco, también había fallecido".

March 12th, I got a message from Chely telling me that her aunt past away and at the same time she told me her father in low (who is the father of another one of our dear brothers Pepe Franco) past away as well.

Chelo y Pepe, (madre e hijo) son dos muy queridos hermanos de la Iglesia, ellos han apoyado mucho a la Iglesia sobre todo cuando la iglesia iniciaba. Su casa nos sirvió como lugar para nuestros convivios, allí jugabamos Volibol, los niños montaban a caballo, los llebaban al río, comíamos en un ambiente de una gran familia, es tal la confianza con ellos, que incluso el año pasado que se casó mi hija Josely, ellos nos prestaron su casa (Pepe y Wendy), para realizar allí la boda. PAco, también fue bautizado en el 2004.

Chelo and Pepe (mother and son) are tow of our dear brothers in Christ, they have been a great support since the beginning of this congregation. They’re house was the place to meet for our potlucks, where we played volleyball, where our kids used to ride horses, played at a near by river, where we all ate with joy in our hearts. We’re so close to them that last year my daughter Joselyn had her wedding at Pepe’s house. Paco (another one of Chelo’s sons) was baptized on 2004.

Por su puesto que conocíamos perfectamente al Lic Carlos Franco, esposo de Chelo, y a toda su familia. Ellos son cinco hijos: Alejandro, Carlos, José (Pepe), Francisco (Paco) y Mauricio, ahora todos ellos están casados, menos Paco.

We knew Mr. Carlos Franco (the dad) as well as their whole family. Carlos and Chelo had five sons: Alejandro, Carlos, Pepe and Mauricio, now all of them are married except for Paco.

En la Iglesia sentimos mucho la tristesa de nuestros queridos hermanos, más porque Don Carlos, nunca quiso obedecer el evangelio.

As a congregation we are really sorry that the Franco family is going through this lost, specially because Mr. Franco didn’t obey they Lord.

El 4 de febrero me hablaron por teléfono diciéndome que orara mucho por Eliseo y Verónica, ellos estuvieron en Toluca y fueron estudiantes de la primera generación del ILEB, después de graduarse se fueron a trabajar a Cozumel, y después, la iglesia de Cozumel, los mandó a trabajar a Poza Rica, Veracruz..., La llamada fue de Isabel Sánchez, hermana carnal Verónica, pidiéndonos que oráramos por ellos porque habían recibido una amenaza de extorsión, estuvimos orando y el domingo 8, ¿cuál fue la sorpresa?, que al llegar a la reunión, Eliseo y su familia estaban aquí en Toluca... Los recibimos con mucho gusto pero al mismo tiempo preocupados por que tuvieron que salir de Poza Rica por las amenazas en su contra. Los hermanos de allá los sacaron y les dijeron: “Váyanse, cuando sea seguro regresar, nosotros les decimos”. Les pedimos que oren por ellos para que puedan regresar a su casa y no sufran a manos de los delincuentes.

On February the 4th I got a phone call telling me to pray for our brothers Eliseo and Veronica, they used to work here and they were students of ILEB, they were part of the 1st graduating generation. After graduating they left to work in Cozumel, and from there they went Poza Rica, Veracruz, where they currently work. Isabel Sanchez, Veronica’s sister, called us asking that we pray for Eliseo and Veronica, because they had gotten a threat of extortion. We were praying and on Sunday the 8th Eliseo and Veronica, for our surprise they were here with us for worship services. They were very welcome but we were a little worried, because they had to leave Poza Rica due to more threats to their lives. The brothering from Poza Rica got them out of there and said: “Go, we’ll tell you when is safe to come back”. We ask that you’ll be praying for them, so that theyc an go back to their home and that they don’t have to suffer in the hands of these people.

12 de Febrero, una hermana, parte de nuestra célula, Ivonn Alcántara, cambió su residencia a Toronto, Canadá. Ella se fue para allá para estudiar inglés y darse una oportunidad de conocer otros lugares del mundo y experimentar el viajar.

February the 12th our sister Ivonne Alcantara, she’s a part of our cell group, decided to move to Toronto, Canada. She wants to study English and give her self the opportunity of visiting other places and learning about other cultures.

13 de Febrero, invitamos a Eliseo y Vero a nuestra célula, Eliseo dio la clase, fue muy animante, habló que en la Biblia es muy claro ver lo que es mundano y lo que es espiritual, que hay que dejar lo mundano para enfocarnos solo en lo espiritual.

February the 13th we invited Eliseo and Veronica to our cell group. Eliseo taught the class, which was very interesting, he talked about how it’s very clear with the bible to see what’s mundane and what’s spiritual and how we should focus on what is spiritual and leave behind all that is mundane.

18 de febrero, recibí un correo de Ivonn, la chica que se fue a Canadá, dice que está muy contenta; desde antes de irse ella contactó a los hermanos de la Iglesia en Toronto, y ahora le han pedido que les ayude a evangelizar a los hispanos que hay por aquella área... Estas son unas de sus palabras: “Saludame por favor a todos los de la celula y diles que los extraño mucho, que les mando un abrazo, y que si en algo tienen que confiar en esta vida es “en Dios” y eso lo debemos de demostrar dando pasos de Fe”.

February 18th I got an e-mail from Ivonne, the girl that moved to Canada. She told me that she’s very happy. Before departing Ivonne got in touch with the Church in Toronto and they asked her to help them to evangelize the Hispanics there. She said: “please tell everyone on the cell group that I say Hello, that I miss them, I send them a big hug and that if they have to trust something that is GOD, and only in Him we should place our faith”.

22 de febrero, En la clase dominical ya van tres domingos con este, que estamos hablando sobre el tema de los ancianos, en la congregación estamos orando todos los días a las 7:00 p.m., por dos propósitos especificos, 1). Porque podamos establecer ancianos en esta congregación y 2). Porque en este 2009 podamos iniciar una nueva obra aquí en Toluca...

February the 22nd, for Sunday morning class we’ve been talking about Elders, this is our 3rd Sunday. We’ve also been praying at 7pm as a congregation for 2 specific things: 1) so that we can have elders in our congregation soon and 2) so that we can plant another church here in Toluca this 2009.

El 11 de enero se bautizó Edgar Valle Castillo, él es un joven que tenía cerca de un año asistiendo cada domingo, venía acompañando a su novia, Guillermina González, ahora su esposa, y cuando nos hablaron de su posible boda, Raúl y yo hablamos con él sobre la primera decisión que tenía que tomar, la de ser bautizado. Un domingo antes de casarse, decidió bautizarse y entregar su vida al Señor.

On January the 11th Edgar Valle Castillo got baptized. He’s a young man that had been visiting for a about a year. He was coming with his girlfriend Guillermina González, who is now his wife. When both of them talked to Raul and I about wanting to get married, we talked to Edgar about the most important decision he had to make, which was to be baptized. The Sunday before getting married Edgar decided to get baptized and give his life to the Lord.

El 17 de enero, se casaron Edgar y Guille, ella es la más chica de una familia 7 hermanos, tres varones y cuatro mujeres. Todos ellos son cristianos, Guille, era la única soltera en la familia. Sus papás también fueron convertidos, su mamá se bautizó un poco antes de fallecer, hace como 5 o 6 años. Algunos años después, para ser exactos el año pasado, su papá, Nicolás fue bautizado. Nuestro hermano Nicolás acaba de fallecer el 31 de enero, quince días después de que entregó a su última hija en el altar (QPD).

On January the 17th Edgar and Guille got married. She’s the youngest of 7 brothers and sisters. Her whole family is Christian, and she was the only one that was single. Her mom got baptized a little before dying about 5 or 6 years ago. Then last year her dad, Nicolas was baptized. Our dear brother Nicolas past away on the 31st of January, only 15 days after he gave away his last daughter in marriage.

El 22 y 23 de enero, asistí a la reunión de la asociación religiosa a la que pertenecemos, fuimos un total de 100 congregaciones las que estuvimos representadas en la XVII Asamblea General de la Iglesia de Cristo. En estas asambleas se tocan los aspectos legales, fiscales y contables con los que tenemos que cumplir como iglesia para cumplir con la ley establecida por el gobierno mexicano.

On the 22nd and 23rd of January I attended the reunion of Religious associations, held every year here in Mexico. There were about 100 congregations represented in the 17th General Assembly of Churches of Christ. In this reunions we talk about the legal and financial processes that we have to get done to do everything according to the law here in Mexico.

El jueves 29 de enero, tuvimos junta con los maestros del ILEB, ahí se les informó de algunos cambios que estamos teniendo. Estamos re-estructurando la forma de trabajar. Esta es la tercera junta que tenemos desde que inició el ciclo escolar en agosto del año pasado. Todos en el ILEB estamos entusiasmados con los cambios y dispuestos a seguir adelante.

On Thursday the 29th of January, we had a meeting with the ILEB teachers, and we informed everyone about some of the changes we’re making. We are trying to restructure the way we work in ILEB. This is the 3rd meeting we’ve had since the beginning of the school year. We’re all very exited about the changes and willing to keep on working.

El 31 de enero, estaba con mi familia comiendo cuando recibí un mensaje sobre la muerte de Nicolás González Montes, como ya dije, él fue el padre de estos siete hermanos, 5 de ellos asisten a la congregación de Toltecas en el D:F, y Guille y Rigo, su hermano, asisten con nosotros en Toluca. Nicolás desde que se bautizó no faltó a los servicios a no ser por causa de fuerza mayor. Le sobreviven 16 nietos y 7 hijos.

January the 31st, I was with my family eating lunch when I got a message letting me know about the death of Nicolas Gonzalez, like I mention before. He was the father of 7, five of those children are a part of the Toltecas congregation in Mexico city. Guile and Rigo, her brother, are a part of our congregation, here in Toluca. Ever since Nicolas got baptized, never missed a Sunday unless he was ill. He was survived by 16 grand children and 7 children.

El 4 de febrero se habló con los alumnos del instituto para mencionarles las cosas que estamos haciendo y las implicaciones que tendrá para ellos estos cambios. Por el momento son 36 alumnos en los tres niveles de estudio en Toluca, además de los alumnos que están estudiando en Monterrey, San Miguel de Allende, CD Victoria, Distrito Federal., Cuautitlán, Córdoba, Celaya, Guanajuato y en la República de Panamá.

On the 4th of February we had a meeting with the ILEB students to talk about the changes we’re making and what does that mean for them. Right now we have 36 students in between all the levels here in Toluca. Besides the students in Monterrey, San Miguel de Allende, Cd. Victoria, Mexico City, Cuautitlan, Cordoba, Celaya, Guanajuato and in Panama.
